Meet Kimi L. Ellen

Kimi L. Brown Ellen is the managing and co-founding partner of Benford Brown & Associates, LLC, the largest, Black, women-owned public accounting firm in the United States, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois.  She founded the firm in 1996 with a fellow Deloitte and Touche, LLP peer, Alyssia Benford. 

She has devoted a substantial portion of her career to providing audit, accounting, consulting, fiscal agent, and tax services to state and local governments as well as nonprofit organizations.  As a result, Kimi has acquired several advanced skills such as operating as a fiscal agent for several nonprofits across the country.  Other skills include Fortune 500 company internal audit, nonprofit financial audits, single audits, government compliance audits, accounting software implementation, forensic audits, risk assessment implementation, and nonprofit accounting.  Kimi is a licensed CPA in the states of Illinois and New York.  Benford Brown & Associates, LLC is also a licensed CPA firm in multiple states.  Professionally, in addition to being the managing partner of BB&A, she is also the Chief Fiscal Officer of various organizations and oversees the financial operations of a combined $150,000,000 in annual revenue.
